Clipbox Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
The short version: Clipbox does not collect, transmit, sell or share your data. Everything you save stays on your iPhone.
What Clipbox stores
The items you save, your collections and rules, and your settings. This is stored only on your device, protected by iOS Data Protection. You can add Face ID / passcode protection with App Lock in Settings.
Network use
The only network request Clipbox makes is optional: when Fetch link titles & images is on (the default), Clipbox asks the website of a link you saved for its title and preview image, directly from your iPhone, using Apple's LinkPresentation framework. That request goes to that website — not to us. Clipbox never sends the *content* of your items anywhere, never fetches links that look like sign-in, password-reset, verification or other one-time links, and never fetches anything for items it treats as sensitive. You can turn this off in Settings → App Lock & privacy.
Clipboard
iOS does not allow any app to watch the clipboard. Clipbox reads the clipboard only when you tap the system Paste button, or if you turn on the optional "Save the clipboard when I open Clipbox" setting (iOS may ask your permission in that case).
Images and screenshots
Images you paste, share to Clipbox or pick from Photos are stored on your iPhone, like everything else. Clipbox reads the text in them with Apple's on-device text recognition to sort them — the image and its text never leave your iPhone. Picking from Photos needs no access to your photo library: iOS hands Clipbox only the images you choose. "Save to Photos" asks only for permission to add a picture, never to read your library.
Screenshot auto-import (Clipbox Pro, optional, off by default). If you turn it on, Clipbox asks for access to your photos and, each time you open Clipbox, imports screenshots taken since you turned it on (or earlier ones, if you choose). It only looks at screenshots, never your Hidden album, and never runs in the background. By default it keeps a link to each screenshot in your library plus a small preview and the text it read, rather than a second copy; you can choose to keep full copies instead. Showing a screenshot whose original is stored in iCloud Photos may download it from your own iCloud account, through Apple. Turn auto-import off any time in Clipbox, and remove access in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Images that look sensitive — for example a one-time code, a card number or a wallet recovery phrase — are hidden like sensitive text: blurred until you unlock them, and never shown in widgets, Spotlight, Shortcuts results or notifications.
Smart sorting (Clipbox Pro, optional)
If you turn it on, Clipbox asks Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence, on iPhones that have it) for a second opinion on items its rules weren't sure about. It runs entirely on your iPhone, never sees items that look sensitive (one-time codes, card numbers, keys, recovery phrases), never overrides a category you set, and sends nothing anywhere. Turn it off any time in Settings → Smart sorting.
Sensitive items
One-time codes, card numbers, keys and recovery phrases are always hidden in the app and never appear in widgets, Spotlight, Shortcuts results or notifications. One-time codes expire automatically (you choose when).
Analytics, advertising, tracking
None. Clipbox has no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs and asks for no account.
Extensions and Shortcuts
The Share extension, widgets and Shortcuts actions read and write the same on-device storage (an App Group container). Nothing leaves the device.
Purchases
Clipbox Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. Clipbox only learns whether you own it.
Your data, your control
Export everything at any time (JSON — with your images as a ZIP — CSV, Markdown, text, URLs) — always free. Delete everything with Settings → Delete all data, or by uninstalling the app.
Children
Clipbox does not collect any data from anyone, including children.
